A 13-year-old boy driving a stolen car hit and injured two motorists, including a Los Angeles Police motorcycle officer, Thursday afternoon, according to a statement from the Los Angeles Police Department.
A resident approached a Los Angeles Police motorcycle officer with information about a stolen vehicle shortly after 3 p.m. Thursday, police said. When the officer found the stolen car, it did not yield to a traffic stop, KTLA5 reported.
A short chase in Panorama City ensued after the officer made contact with the 13-year-old boy and the 15-year-old girl in a compact silver car, FOX11 LA reported.
At one point during the pursuit, the driver of the suspect vehicle collided with the motorcycle officer before crashing into a white Honda near the intersection of Parthenia Street and Kester Avenue, FOX11 LA reported.
The two teenagers were taken into custody a short time later. The girl was released, but the boy is facing assault with a deadly weapon charge, police said.
Both the officer and the other motorist were taken to the hospital for treatment but were discharged with minor injuries.
