Several shooters opened fire inside a Kansas nightclub leaving 11 people injured early Sunday morning, according to police.
No deaths were reported, however, nine people were injured in the shooting and two other people were trampled as nightclub patrons rushed for the exits, according to a Facebook post by the Wichita Police Department.
Police responded to the shooting inside the City Nightz club at 12:55 a.m. on Sunday. Wichita Police Lt. Aaron Moses said officers believe multiple gunmen opened fire that evening.
On Monday, the Wichita Police Department announced they arrested a suspect, Brandon Young, 31, of Florissant, Missouri, on two counts of aggravated battery.
Investigators have recovered four guns and were working to determine if they were the weapons the shooters used, police said.
Detective Chris Merceau said during a news conference Sunday that police have been called to the nightclub about a dozen times this year for various incidents, including a report of aggravated battery and a drive-by shooting on May 21.
Merceau said police met with the club’s owner after the May incident and discussed the importance of surveillance cameras using electronic wands to detect weapons on patrons. He said investigators will work to determine if any of those recommendations were followed.
