A California tree trimmer was killed when he fell into a wood chipper Tuesday, police said.

At around 1 p.m. on Tuesday, police were notified that a tree trimmer had fallen into a wood chipper in the city of Menlo Park, just over 20 miles north of San Jose. When they arrived, they found a man who had died from his injuries, according to a news release. 

Police haven’t released the worker’s identity but said the coroner’s office will notify the victim’s next of kin.

The Cal/OSHA Division of Occupational Safety and Health will investigate his death, police said.

Work incidents: He was missing for two months. Coroners say a plastic shredder was responsible for his death.
