Powerball players are checking to see if they have won one of the largest jackpots in the game’s history. 

After no winner Saturday, the Powerball jackpot climbed to an estimated $747 million ahead of Monday’s drawing, marking the fifth largest jackpot in Powerball history and ninth-highest U.S. lottery prize ever, officials said. 

The jackpot has continued to grow ever since it was last won on Nov. 19. Monday will be the 34th drawing for the current jackpot, Powerball said. 

Winning the grand prize would net the winner $747 million if they chose the annuity option, which would be paid out gradually over 29 years. The popular option – cash option – would give the winner $403.1 million before federal and state taxes.

How do I play Powerball?

Powerball tickets cost $2 per play. To play, players pick (or opt to randomly receive) five numbers from one to 69 for the white balls, and one number from one to 26 for the red Powerball.

To win the jackpot, you need to match the numbers for all five white balls and the red Powerball.
