CNN’s Jake Tapper sat down with President Joe Biden on Tuesday night for an interview that covered a wide range of topics. Among those topics was the question of Joe Biden’s age.

Biden will turn 80 next month, and Tapper noted that, because of his age, some Democrats have questioned Biden’s ability to do the job.

This led to Tapper asking Biden what he would tell those in his own party who might not want him to run again in 2024.

Joe Biden managed to get around the question of age, but the rest of his answer could not have been more out of touch – bragging about what he claims are his accomplishments.

He said, “Well, they’re concerned about whether or not I can get anything done. Look what I’ve gotten done. Name me a president in recent history that’s gotten as much done as I have in the first two years. Not a joke. You may not like what I got done, but the vast majority of the American people do like what I got done.”

Joe Continues To Tout… Himself

Joe Biden continued to tout his ability to do the job, and to put any doubters at ease. “And so I just – it’s a matter of, ‘Can you do the job?’ And I believe I can do the job. I’ve been able to do the job. I’ve gotten more done. I got the inflation reduction – I got all of these pieces of legislation passed. And I ran on that. I said, ‘This is what I was going to do,’ and I am still getting it done.”

What kind of job has Joe Biden done? On Thursday, consumer price data was released by the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS). Consumer prices rose 0.4% in September, and overall, an 8.2% increase since September 2021.

The national average gas price is slowly inching back up to $4 per gallon. In November of 2020, the price was $2.10 per gallon. Foreign leaders don’t seem to be taking Joe Biden seriously either. Saudi Arabia recently answered Biden’s request to increase oil production by instead cutting production.

A trip to the grocery store under Joe Biden is pinching Americans as well. The BLS’ “food at home” index rose 13.0% in the last year. Cereals and bakery products up 16.2%, dairy up 15.9%, and other items such as meat, poultry, fish, and eggs saw increases ranging from 9.0% to 15.7%.

2020 Rematch?

Jake Tapper then asked about 2024. “Is one of the calculations that you think you’re the only one who can beat Donald Trump?”

Joe Biden’s response: “I believe I can beat Donald Trump again.”

Joe Biden may believe that, but a recent Harvard CAPS/Harris poll says something entirely different. The poll taken September 7-8 asked voters, “If the 2024 presidential election were held today and it was between Joe Biden and Donald Trump, who would you vote for?”

The poll showed that Trump would beat Biden by a margin of 45% to 42% with 13% undecided.

Trump continues to travel around the nation holding rallies that are attended by thousands, campaigning for midterm congressional and Senatorial candidates. The most recent in Arizona where he campaigned for gubernatorial candidate Kari Lake and Senate candidate Blake Masters.

Those poll numbers must not have been on Biden’s interview cheat sheet. Watch the whole interview here:
