Senator Mazie Hirono was on the receiving end of widespread criticism following a floor speech in which she made a “literal call to arms” against the pro-life movement.
Hirono (D-HI) was speaking out in opposition to Senator Lindsey Graham’s proposed bill to ban abortions at the federal level after 15 weeks.
After calling out Republicans as “hypocrites” for arguing that abortion is a state’s rights issue while Graham promotes his new legislation, Hirona declared, “This is an outright attack on women in this country.”
“That is how more and more women and those who support our right to make decisions about our own bodies, that is how we see it. And why? Because that’s what’s happening,” she added.
“Madam President, I yield the floor. But clearly, this is a — literally call to arms in our country,” Hirono concluded. “I yield the floor.”

Mazie Hirono Issues a ‘Call to Arms’ Against Pro-Lifers
Mazie Hirono’s “call to arms” against the pro-life movement comes as crisis pregnancy centers – designed to help pregnant women take care of themselves and their babies and offer an alternative to abortion – have been consistent targets of attacks across the country.

It comes just months separated from Supreme Court Justices being subjected to online threats, including maps to their family homes, and culminating in an assassination attempt against Brett Kavanaugh.
And it sounds super-insurrectiony to issue a call to arms in order to prevent the passage of pro-life legislation.
The left has said for years that this language is an absolute call to violence, thus @maziehirono and Democrats are calling for violent armed conflict against pro-life supporters. https://t.co/1hH2NRnHQh

The fun part is her use of the word “literally” which will trump any eventual claims that she was simply using a figure of speech.
Hmm … I’m old enough to remember when Republicans using targets on a political map was enough to get blamed for violence in this country.
You’d think a literal call to arms would have the media … well, up in arms.
“Literally”
She’s either purposely inciting violence or she’s a freaking moron. Take your pick.

Calling For Violence
Matt Wolking, the Vice President of Axiom Strategies Communications, called Mazie Hirono out over her “call to arms.”
“After many crisis pregnancy centers have been firebombed by Democrats, crazy Mazie Hirono calls for more pro-abortion violence,” he tweeted.
Clinics across the country have been vandalized in the past few months, including broken windows, smashed doors, and graffiti, while others in Colorado, Wisconsin, Oregon, and New York have literally been firebombed.
In the case of the center attack in Wisconsin, spray paint was used to leave behind the message: “If abortions aren’t safe, then you aren’t either.”
Thus far there have been no arrests made in these instances.

“How many people are gonna listen to her and firebomb another small business that helps pregnant women?” X Strategies LLC senior digital strategist Greg Price wondered.
So what exactly does crazy @maziehirono mean when she says this is “literally a call to arms in our country” because it sure sounds like she’s calling for violence against pro-life citizens and politicians. pic.twitter.com/LSHFCbBMai

Mazie Hirono has never been accused of being the brightest bulb in the box, but issuing a “call to arms” is dangerously ignorant even by her and her party’s already low standards.
The Hawaii Democrat has previously called former President Donald Trump’s base of supporters “very anti-immigrant and white supremacists.”

Here she is needing clarification on what the word “illegal” means from the head of ICE’s Enforcement and Removal Operations.
Watch the moment the head of ICE’s Enforcement and Removal Operations team is forced to explain to Sen. Mazie Hirono what “illegal” means.

“I’d like you to clarify for me who constitutes the illegally present population in our country,” Hirono asked during a 2019 congressional hearing.
“I’m not quite sure I follow the question ma’am,” the perplexed top official at ICE replied. “Individuals who are here unlawfully … are considered in an illegal status as it relates to immigration law.”
Senator Elizabeth Warren, much like her colleague Hirono, has made incendiary comments regarding pro-life crisis centers.
“In Massachusetts right now, those crisis pregnancy centers that are there to fool people who are looking for pregnancy termination help outnumber true abortion clinics by 3 to 1,” Warren (D-MA) said.
“We need to shut them down here in Massachusetts, and we need to shut them down all around the country,” she threatened. “You should not be able to torture a pregnant person like that.”
Shut them down via a call to arms, apparently.
