A South Carolina mother was accidentally shot and killed by her 3-year-old child this week, local authorities said.
Deputies were called to a home around 7:45 a.m. Wednesday about the shooting; there, they found the victim, 33-year-old Cora Lyn Bush, her mother, and her child, the Spartanburg County Sheriff’s Office said in a news release on Facebook.

Bush was taken to a hospital where she died shortly before 10 a.m. Wednesday.
Deputies interviewed Bush’s mother, whose story matched both evidence at the scene and Bush’s injuries, the sheriff’s office said.
The investigation is active, but deputies think the shooting was accidental. The sheriff’s office said the gun was unsecured and that’s how the child was able to access it.
A forensic autopsy is scheduled for Thursday.
