Once again, Americans are relying on so-called “moderate” Democrats to help them fend off even more economic disaster.

This time, Sen. Kyrsten Sinema (D-AZ) could be the lone holdout and torpedo the massive tax hike and climate change bill recently announced by Democrats.

After fellow “moderate” Sen. Joe Manchin (D-WV) folded like a lawn chair and came to an agreement with Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer (D-NY) on the bill, all eyes are now on Sinema to see which way she will vote.

Sinema Savior?

According to The Hill, Sinema refused to say where she will land.

Of the provisions of the latest bill, Sinema has been on board with the 15% minimum corporate tax on companies, but has opposed closing the so-called “carried interest loophole.”

The Political Insider previously wrote of the contents of the bill, quoting The Hill:

Of the massive amount of new revenue coming in the door, $369 billion will go right back out for spending on “energy-focused climate programs” over 10 years.

The tax increases, roughly $739 billion over 10 years, will come from “$313 billion through a 15-percent corporate minimum tax, $288 billion from empowering Medicare to negotiate lower drug prices, $124 billion from strong IRS enforcement of tax law and $14 billion from closing the carried interest loophole for money managers.”

But here’s the kicker: The Democrats openly plan to pass the bill in the Senate through reconciliation – bypassing the filibuster and not needing a single Republican vote.

If Sinema were to oppose the bill, and no Republicans crossed the aisle to vote for massive new taxes and spending, the bill would be dead on arrival.

Being At Odds With The Party

Both Kyrsten Sinema and Joe Manchin have been on the wrong side of their own party before. Democrats have been trying to get rid of the Senate filibuster since they have had the majority in the Senate.

Back in January, when Sinema and Manchin were the two holdout Democrats opposed to ending the filibuster, their fellow Democrats, quite amusingly, played the race card on each other, calling the Senate procedure the “Jim Crow filibuster.” And anyone apparently in favor of it were, wait for it, white nationalists.

Sinema pointed to Democrats use of the filibuster to make changes to a then-pending police reform bill, and made a rational assessment of why the filibuster was used saying, “Those filibusters were mounted not as attempts to block progress, but to force continued negotiations toward better solutions.”

The Party Of Women

Kyrsten Sinema has faced the wrath of her own party before. Back in January, former White House Chief of Staff for Operations in the Obama administration Alyssa Mastromonaco had a less than polite description of Sinema beccause of her disagreement with Sinema on the filibuster.

“You guys, I have real issues with her. They are many-fold. She talks about the ‘disease of division. She gave the speech as Joe Biden was on [his] way up to the Hill. So anyway, it’s the s—tiest, grossest, most disrespectful thing she could’ve done. I think she’s a c—. That’s what I have to say.”

Sinema has also been the recipient of other over-the-top leftist behavior. Last year, she was followed into a restroom, right up to the stall door, by unhinged leftists upset by her opposition to the $3 trillion Build Back Better bill, which ultimately failed.

On Friday, a spokeswoman for Sinema said she was, “reviewing the text and will need to see what comes out of the parliamentarian process.” According to a report from The Hill, Schumer seems confidant about Sinema’s vote.

Now Sinema will have to choose between a huge tax and expenditure increase in the middle of a recession and record inflation.
