Former White House adviser Steve Bannon will be indicted by the Manhattan District Attorney’s office on charges that he was involved in an alleged scheme to defraud donors to the “We Build the Wall” charity.

Bannon turned himself in on Thursday morning, but has been defiant – declaring that he will “never stop fighting.”

Particulars Of The Case

As he was preparing to leave office, former President Donald Trump pardoned Bannon on charges to defraud donors that three other men were also charged with.

In August of 2020, the U.S. Attorney in Manhattan, Audrey Strauss said this about the case, “The defendants defrauded hundreds of thousands of donors, capitalizing on their interest in funding a border wall to raise millions of dollars, under the false pretense that all of that money would be spent on construction.”

Bannon was arrested at the time, along with the three other men on charges of conspiracy to commit wire fraud and money laundering. A report from Forbes said at the time:

“The organizers of the scheme allegedly defrauded their donors—who raised more than $25 million for the cause—by siphoning money for their own personal use, with Bannon reportedly receiving more than $1 million of the funds.”

The newest state charges get around Bannon’s federal pardon.

Bannon Hits Back

Steve Bannon is not afraid of the left. He ripped Manhattan District Attorney Alvin Bragg and the new charges against him as “partisan political weaponization of the criminal justice system.”

But Bannon wasn’t done yet. He continued,

“Just days after being swatted three different times by deranged thugs from New York City inspired by the Biden Administration to assassinate me by police, the Soros-backed DA has now decided to pursue phony charges against me 60 days before the midterm election because WarRoom is the major source of the MAGA grassroots movement.”

There aren’t many people more prepared to take on the left than Steve Bannon. He is the host of the very popular “WarRoom” podcast. It has been a home base of sorts for Trump supporters and activists, and GOP candidates this election cycle to reach out to the Trump-MAGA base.

This latest indictment is not Bannon’s first go around. In November of 2021, Bannon was charged with contempt of Congress by not complying with a subpoena to appear before the House Committee on Jan. 6. In addition to failure to appear for a deposition, he was also charged with failure to produce documents.

Upon telling the Jan. 6 Committee to pound sand and leaving the courthouse, Bannon had this to say to the Biden administration:

“I’m telling you right now, this is going to be the misdemeanor from hell for Merrick GarlandNancy Pelosi and Joe Biden. … We’re going on the offense. They took on the wrong guy this time; they took on the wrong guys.”

Democrats Not Keeping Bannon Down

In July, as his contempt of Congress trial got underway, a pretty cool thing happened.

The “WarRoom” podcast catapulted into Apple ‘s list of top ten podcasts. And in typical Bannon fashion, he reminded his listeners that, “Remember, there are no whining and no tears in the War Room.”

Good advice in an ominous time, but Bannon also reminded his supporters of what is really going on, and made a serious vow:

“They are coming after all of us, not only President Trump and myself. I am never going to stop fighting. In fact, I have not yet begun to fight. They will have to kill me first.”
