Florida Republican Gov. Ron DeSantis escalated his battle with Walt Disney Co. on Tuesday by asking state lawmakers to soon consider ending the special tax district that has allowed the company to effectively govern the land on which its theme parks sit.
Mr. DeSantis, a Republican, has clashed with Disney over the company’s opposition to Florida’s Parental Rights in Education bill, which he signed into law last month. The company had remained silent on the bill until it passed—critics call it the “Don’t Say Gay” legislation—then vowed to push for its repeal and to fight similar bills in other states.
