- Akron Mayor Dan Horrigan has declared a state of emergency in the city
- He canceled 4th of July festivities and issued a 9 p.m. city-wide curfew
- The emergency order was prompted after violent protests downtown Sunday
- Horrigan said officials ‘will not tolerate the destruction of property or violence’
- Activists were protesting the shooting death of 25-year-old Jayland Walker
- Walker was shot dead after being hit 60 times by police during a traffic stop
- Walker’s family asked demonstrators to maintain peaceful during their protests
