A man accused of barricading himself in a Las Vegas Strip hotel room was suspected to be on a multiple day drug binge before the incident according arresting documents released Wednesday.

Police said Matthew Mannix, 35, kidnapped a woman and held her in room 2128 of Caesars Palace where he caused an estimated $50,000 of damage including breaking a window on Tuesday, according to a to Las Vegas Metropolitan police department records.

Mannix was charged with four felony counts including kidnapping, destruction of property and resisting arrest.

A multi-hour standoff in Las Vegas

According to the arrest report, multiple noise complaints had been made against the room and the hotel contacted police at around 9:15 a.m. Tuesday.

When hotel security and police conducted a welfare check Tuesday morning on Mannix’s room, a male voice responded, telling officers “If you don’t leave it will end badly,” the records show. A female voice was then heard saying that Mannix had a knife, police said.

Shortly before 11 a.m., police said Mannix broke the front window of the room and threw furniture from the room on the 21st floor on to a crowded pool deck below.

The stand off continued until 2:39 p.m. when LVMPD took Mannix into custody.

Mannix had warrants issued day before incident

According to the report, Mannix and the woman in the room had appeared to have, “been experiencing a transient lifestyle on the Las Vegas strip and had binged illegal narcotics for the past several days.”

Mannix had four active protection orders against him and warrants for his arrest in Colorado, investigators said, though the details are redacted in the police report.

According to 9News Colorado, those warrants were issued against Mannix on Monday on suspicion of two felony weapons possession charges, a theft misdemeanor and a parole violation.
