Readers have responded generously to our last appeal, to meet our final fundraiser goal of $35,000 for more original and to surpass our new donor target of 1250 contributors. Our community gave more donations in the past 6 hours than in the previous 12, at 62. That blasted through our old goal and puts us at 1273 donors! We’re raising that target to 1350.
Since our last update, only four hours ago, you’ve blasted through our financial target target. We are now at $24,255, closing in on our goal of $36,000 for original reporting! This uptick in the closing hours is gratifying, since it confirms how much the Naked Capitalism community values this work and wants this site to get even better.

I would be ignorant of just about everything going on in the world today if it weren’t for Yves, Lambert, the other posters and contributors (current & past), moderators, members of the various brain trusts and the commentariat (current & past) of Naked Capitalism. Even worse, if I were dependent on the MSM, I might think of myself as an informed person, when, in fact I would only have been mis- and dis-informed. That said, even my infrequent (and decreasing) ventures into “news” coverage reveal that is has become crazily incomprehensible, if not irrelevant, on almost any subject. (And this is an election year. Ain’t that just great?)

The discussion here has been the go-to for all matters relating to COVID, not only because there are sensible people with decades of practical experience in medicine speaking their minds (e.g., IM Doc), researchers who understand the nuts and bolts, but a community of level-headed people willing to submit official discourse to criticism and BS testing.

And even though we’re delighted to have raised nearly $25,000, consider how modest that is compared to newsroom budgets, let alone that of the think tanks whose output we regularly take down. Make a high-leverage investment in unpacking the propaganda and exposing the distortions that help support looting and policies that serve the rich at expense of the rest of us.
