Democrat Representative Vicente Gonzalez, sitting beside Adam Schiff – a member of the January 6 House committee – claimed Republican Mayra Flores “stole” a special election to fill the vacant seat in Texas’ 34th Congressional District back in June.

Gonzalez’s comments, a stark demonstration of hypocrisy especially considering the company, were made at a “vote blue” event in Brownsville, Texas, this past Thursday.

“Our democracy is at stake,” he began. “There’s millions and millions of dollars from outside our region and outside our state that are coming here to try to steal our elections and take away your value and take away the process that we rely on, which is elections.”

Gonzalez then took specific aim at Flores, whom he will face in the district’s election on November 8th, and her supporters.

“They stole that last election. They spent $3 million to our $250,000, they campaigned for two years, and they still only won by less than one percent,” Gonzalez claimed.

“So, the way to turn this around is getting out and vote.”

Vicente Gonzalez Says Mayra Flores Stole Election

Mayra Flores defeated Democrat Dan Sanchez in a special election to fill the vacant seat in Texas’ 34th Congressional District, making her the first Mexican-born Congresswoman.

She will now face off against Vicente Gonzalez and his claims that she ‘stole’ the election.

Sitting beside him at this event was Representative Adam Schiff (D-CA), who has spent the better part of the past 20 months telling anyone who will listen that claims of stolen elections amount to insurrection and an unraveling of democracy as we know it.

Schiff stared, unflinching and wide-eyed at his colleague as he made the comments.

Schiff also spoke to backers of Gonzalez and urged them to support his “wonderful colleague.”

Mayra Flores Slams Adam Schiff For Protecting the Swamp

Prior to the event in which the Democrat claimed the Texas special election was stolen, Mayra Flores mocked Schiff for stumping on behalf of Gonzalez arguing the “swamp is protecting one of its own.”

Gonzalez tweeted an image of himself and Schiff at the event and said, “Thank you to my friend, @RepAdamSchiff, for visiting the #RGV this week.”

Schiff, who serves on the House committee investigating the Capitol riot – which was supposedly an attack on democracy with election denialism as a catalyst – has called claims of stolen elections a “dangerous cancer.”

“If you can convince Americans that they cannot trust their own elections, that anytime they lose, it is somehow illegitimate, then what is left but violence to determine who should govern?” he said regarding former President Donald Trump.

I look forward to his statement condemning Vicente Gonzalez for claiming Mayra Flores stole the election.

Gonzalez’s comments come as President Biden has railed against Trump supporters saying anyone who “refuses to acknowledge an election” is a “threat to democracy.”
