“Doomsday” mom Lori Vallow on Tuesday pleaded not guilty to murder charges over the slayings of her two children, whose burnt bodies were found buried in a makeshift pet cemetery in Idaho months after they went missing.
The 48-year-old’s defense attorney entered the plea on her behalf at her arraignment in Fremont County Court. Vallow, who wore a blue sweater and green-rimmed glasses, remained silent during the brief hearing.
The mom, who spent the past 11 months in an Idaho psychiatric facility — and was only last week deemed fit to stand trial — faces numerous charges tied to the complex case that involves allegations of bizarre beliefs in doomsday predictions and zombies.
Vallow and her husband, Chad Daybell, 52, are both charged with conspiracy to commit murder and first-degree murder in connection with the 2019 deaths of the two kids, Tylee Ryan, 17, and 7-year-old Joshua “JJ” Vallow.
The couple, who are members of the doomsday cult Preparing a People, allegedly started espousing apocalyptic beliefs back in 2018 when they were still married to other people.
Authorities started investigating when Daybell’s first wife, Tammy Daybell, died under mysterious circumstances in October 2019 — just days before he and Vallow got married.
The following month, cops started looking for Vallow’s kids after relatives raised concerns about their wellbeing. The couple never reported the children missing and allegedly wouldn’t cooperate with authorities.

Vallow and Daybell then fled the rural Idaho town where they’d been living and were found months later in Hawaii without the children, authorities said.
The charred and decomposing bodies of JJ and Tylee were found in 2020 buried at the edge of Daybell’s backyard in Idaho. Authorities haven’t ever disclosed the children’s causes of death.
Vallow had allegedly told a friend that her children were infected with evil spirits. The couple also allegedly believed that people could become “zombies” if they were possessed by evil spirits.

The pair are set to stand trial together early next year.
Vallow is charged separately in Arizona with conspiring to murder one of her former husbands, Charles Vallow, who was fatally shot by her brother, Alex Cox, in July 2019.
Cox, who claimed the shooting of Vallow was in self-defense, died in December of an apparent blood clot in his lung.
Daybell is also facing charges in connection to his former wife’s death.
