Elon Musk, who will likely become the new owner and CEO of Twitter, let the cat out of the bag, acknowledging that the big tech company has an ‘obviously strong’ left-wing bias prevalent on the platform.
Musk made the comment in response to a reporter for the Rewire News Group explicitly calling for more violence against pro-life groups similar to the arson experienced by Wisconsin Family Action.
Wisconsin Family Action, a pro-life group in the uber-liberal capital city of Madison, was reportedly the target of a Molotov cocktail attack, a separate fire set in their building, and graffiti that read: “If abortions aren’t safe then you aren’t either.”
Caroline Reilly, the reporter in question, responded to a news report on the domestic terrorist attack.
“More of this,” she wrote. “May these people never know a moment of peace or safety until they rot in the ground.”
Here you go @elonmusk, when Twitter employees invariably lie to you about enforcement policy, maybe they can explain why a verified account is allowed to incite terrorism without any care in the world about being banned. pic.twitter.com/rCpuf5e1Ry

Reilly has since deleted her Twitter account after calling for violence against pro-life advocates.

Social media personality Mike Cernovich, prior to that, however, called her out, sharing the tweet and asking Elon Musk “why a verified account is allowed to incite terrorism without any care in the world about being banned.”
The soon-to-be Twitter CEO replied by pointing out what everybody already knows.
“Twitter [obviously] has a strong left-wing bias,” he wrote.

It shouldn’t be a surprise that the censorship on Twitter only goes one way – the employees of Twitter donate to Democrats by an incredible, North Korea-esque 99% vs donations to Republicans.
Musk expanded upon his own personal thoughts on what he sees as the future of Twitter and what types of engagement will be allowed. His comments seem to suggest absurd comments on both sides of the political aisle should be allowed – unless prohibited by law.
“Like I said, my preference is to hew close to the laws of countries in which Twitter operates,” he replied to Cernovich. “If the citizens want something banned, then pass a law to do so, otherwise it should be allowed.”

Liberals Didn’t Appreciate the Truth Being Revealed
As you might imagine, conservatives on the platform were pleased with Elon Musk pointing out Twitter’s hardcore left-wing bias. They’ve known it all along.
“This is how it should be done,” replied conservative firebrand Candace Owens.
“Why on earth any person cannot tweet ‘I believe the election was rigged’ without having their account suspended makes entirely no sense in a society governed with free speech,” she wrote.
Well, that actually illustrates Twitter’s ‘obvious’ bias even further. Some people – like former President Donald Trump – can’t say that without getting banned. Others – like current White House press secretary Karine Jean-Pierre – can.
Especially since that’s the view of the current WH press secretary. https://t.co/LJKPwx76CR

Others pointed out a flaw in Musk’s assessment of how to deal with free speech on the platform, noting that following a particular country’s laws would mean censorship for citizens of Communist nations like China.
Are you signaling that if the Chinese government wants posts by Chinese citizens taken down you’ll do that?
If so that is much more censorship than currently done by twitter

If Twitter is an American corporation and social media platform, then it need only operate under American laws. The rest of the world can adapt, not the other way around.
Elon Musk’s comments on Twitter’s left-wing bias are another recent example of him setting the left aflame with concerns that he is more aligned with free-speech absolutism on the right.
Less than two weeks earlier, he shared a graphic indicating liberals have moved so far to the left as ‘woke’ progressives that it’s moved people in the middle inadvertently on the right side of the political spectrum through no fault of their own.

The Political Insider reported earlier this week that the head of Russia’s space agency threatened Musk over his attempts to provide Ukraine with internet service during the ongoing invasion.
“If I die under mysterious circumstances, it’s been nice knowin’ ya,” he wrote.
Reports indicate Musk will serve as Twitter CEO for a few months after his deal to acquire the social media platform is finalized, likely in the coming months.
