Hot car deaths 2022: How many US kids have died in cars this summer?

While the public has little sympathy for parents who leave their children in hot cars, experts reiterate that it can happen to anybody

A Pennsylvania father who left his 3-month-old baby in the family minivan while he was at work for six hours has been charged in the boy’s death as two other children have become the 14th and 15th to die in hot cars in the United States this year.

Khang Nguyen, 33, has been charged with involuntary manslaughter, child endangerment and reckless endangerment in the death of his son Kayden. He was ordered held in Allegheny County jail without bail, an unusual move in such cases in which the majority of parents don’t face criminal charges.
