Former CIA director James Woolsey, in a recently resurfaced video, casually admitted that the United States (US) has “interfered” in foreign elections in the interest of democracy.

Woolsey, who served as the top official with Central Intelligence under President Bill Clinton, made the blunt remarks during an interview with Fox News host Laura Ingraham in 2018.

When asked by Ingraham if the US “meddles in other country’s elections,” he replied: “Oh probably, but it was for the good of the system in order to prevent the communists from taking over.”

Pressed on whether the American government continues the tactic Woolsey laughed, coyly mumbled, and said, “Only for a very good cause and in the interest of democracy.”

Former CIA Director Admitted US Interfered in Elections

James Woolsey’s admission that the US interferes in elections was seen as hypocritical by some considering the country was in the middle of a four-year propaganda effort by Democrats and the media denouncing interference in America’s elections.

In fact, according to The Hill at the time, “the Russian embassy flagged his comments.”

“Says it all,” the embassy tweeted along with the quote from the former CIA director.

Woolsey’s comments also stand out as Democrats and the media have insisted that “democracy” was almost lost during the January 6 riot at the Capitol.

While there is no indication any government entity meddled or meddles in American elections we have to quote Woolsey and say, “Well … yum, yum, yum, yum.”

US Planning Coups

Former National Security Advisor John Bolton, in a recent discussion about the alleged ‘coup’ attempt on January 6th, also seemingly casually admitted to having interfered with foreign governments.

“Mr. Bolton would know” about planning to overthrow governments, writes The Political Insider’s Kathleen Anderson, “since it takes someone with real smarts and experience in the dark arts, like him, to orchestrate a coup d’etat.”

When pressed by CNN’s Jake Tapper that it doesn’t take a mastermind to plot a coup, Bolton replied, “As somebody who has helped plan coups d’etat – not here, but other places – it takes a lot of work.”

It would be naive to think the US government hasn’t interfered in foreign elections or plotted coups throughout its history.

Documents showed in 2015 that the State Department under Barack Obama used taxpayer money to interfere in the 2015 Israeli elections in an attempt to defeat Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu.

But the casual admission out loud that such efforts had been made is different and would seem contradictory to everything we’ve been told about a hyperventilating media and their concern over the fall of democracy under former President Donald Trump.
