Vice President Kamala Harris says the White House is considering payments to women seeking abortions in the form of ‘vouchers’ to help them travel to states that provide the procedure.

Harris made the comments in an interview with CNN’s Dana Bash, who reeled off a series of possible financial solutions to aid low-income women in traveling to abortion-friendly states. This follows the Supreme Court’s ruling that the power to regulate such procedures be returned to the individual states.

“What about the idea of financial resources? Some form of voucher for travel, child care services, other forms of support for people, for women seeking abortions in states where it’s not legal, but they just don’t have the means to go elsewhere,” Bash queried.

The administration that can’t provide women with baby formula right now wants to hand out vouchers to aid in the termination of a pregnancy?

“So, this is something that we are looking at because we know, for example, in terms of how this is going to actually impact real people, over half of the women who receive abortions in America are moms,” Harris told Bash.

Kamala Harris: We’re Considering Abortion Travel Vouchers

Kamala Harris proceeded to note the expenses involved in traveling for abortion and how vouchers might be able to help.

“That means that if they’re going to have to travel, they have to find daycare and pay for it,” she said.

“It means that they will, if they are working, which most are, they’re going to have to have time from work and if they don’t have paid leave, they are going to have to figure out how to afford it,” added the Vice President.

“It means they may have to put up money for a train or a bus or a plane, much less a hotel, and so we want to make sure that there does not result (in) extreme disparities or any disparities based on who can receive care based on how much money they’ve got,” she said.

Bash and Harris never mentioned the Hyde Amendment, of course, a legislative provision passed in 1976 that prevents the use of federal funds for abortions, except to save the life of the woman or if the pregnancy arises from incest or rape.

President Biden, who the media likes to remind you is a lifelong Catholic, excluded the amendment from a 2023 budget proposal. Republicans are expected to work to reinstate the Hyde language as part of budget negotiations.

They Thought About Gas Cards For Struggling Americans Too

Harris also urged viewers to think about the effects the Supreme Court’s abortion ruling will mean “for the life of your son.”

The life of your son!

And she said it without a hint of irony.

“When we think about it, everyone has something at risk on this. First of all, if you are a parent of sons, do think about what this means for the life of your son and what that will mean in terms of the choices he will have,” Harris articulated.

National Review writer Alexandra DeSanctis Marr countered, “You mean like they might have to take responsibility as fathers instead of paying for an abortion or coercing the mother of their child to get one?”

Others found the comments to simply be “gross.”

It’s pretty sad that Kamala Harris wants the administration to hand out abortion travel vouchers when they seemingly couldn’t get a gas rebate card program working for struggling Americans.

The Political Insider reported last week that the White House has been considering sending ‘rebate cards’ to Americans struggling due to the high cost of gas, but chip shortages under the Biden administration have made doing so nearly impossible.

Without the resources, one wonders how the vouchers would work.

Perhaps they’ll hand write little abortion IOU cards for those seeking federal tax money to reimburse them for the procedure, like those birthday cards kids sometimes hand out with vouchers for ‘one free hug.’
