US Vice-President Kamala Harris and her running mate, Minnesota Governor Tim Wal, sat for their first joint interview with CNN.
Ms Harris defended her shifts on policy, President Joe Biden, and her time in the White House.
She argued that the Biden administration was able to recover the economy after the pandemic.
Addressing criticism that she had been too soft on illegal immigration, a core part of her rival Donald Trump’s message, she said as president she would sign tough legislation. Mr Trump dismissed the interview as “boring”.
