Police in Montgomery County, Maryland are investigating some serious monkey business after a thief made off with a gorilla statue in the dark of night.
The theft happened in front of an antique store in Kensington, Maryland in the middle of the night on Jan. 4.
Surveillance video released last week shows a man drive up to Design Emporium Antiques, cut the cable locking the statue to the front of the store, and load the chest-high gorilla into the bed of his pickup truck before pulling away.
The cast iron statue is worth an estimated $1,000, Montgomery County police told USA TODAY.
A call to the antiques store was not immediately returned on Monday.
Police are asking anyone with information about the suspect to call 1-866-411-TIPS (8477). Callers can report anonymously. A reward of up to $10,000 is being offered for information that leads to the arrest of the suspect.
