Details have emerged regarding Nancy Pelosi’s husband, Paul Pelosi, and his arrest for DUI, including the finding that he had an illegal substance in his system, exhibited slurred speech, and allegedly handed officers a police “privilege card” as a means to get out of his predicament.
Court documents show that Mr. Pelosi crashed his 2021 Porsche into another vehicle on May 28th where both sustained “major collision damage.”
The Speaker’s husband allegedly had a blood alcohol content of .082% about two hours after the crash and faces misdemeanor charges for causing injury.
He is set to be arraigned on those charges today and will enter a plea. California law does not require him to be present in the courtroom.

Court documents obtained by the New York Post regarding the arrest show Paul Pelosi, officers observed, was slurring his speech and “had a strong odor of an alcoholic beverage emanating from his breath.”
The complaint also takes note that Mr. Pelosi allegedly injured the other driver “while under the influence of an alcoholic beverage and a drug and under their combined influence.”

There is no indication what the drug was and Pelosi’s attorney, according to Fox News, dismissed it as “part of the statutory boilerplate language in the complaint.”

Fox News also reports that Paul Pelosi handed over a “police privilege” card during the arrest, seemingly an attempt to curry favor in the hopes of avoiding trouble.
“Pelosi allegedly handed officers his driver’s license and an ’11-99 Foundation’ card when they asked for his ID,” they report. “The 11-99 Foundation is a California Highway Patrol charity that supports officers and provides scholarships for their children.”

Details of Paul Pelosi’s arrest and his arraignment come as the House Speaker is leading a delegation of Democratic lawmakers on a controversial visit to Taiwan.

Paul Pelosi also found himself in hot water over controversial stock purchases made in June.
A financial disclosure shows Mr. Pelosi made a million-dollar stock purchase in semiconductor company NVIDIA, buying 20,000 shares ahead of a congressional vote to provide a $52 billion subsidy increasing U.S. manufacturing of computer chips.

The stock purchase led fellow Democrat Tulsi Gabbard (HI) to declare it as evidence of “blatant corruption” and that the “system is rigged.”
“We have people in positions of power to pass legislation, to enact new policies,” explained Gabbard.
“They can see, ‘OK, here are the industries or companies that will benefit from this. I’m going to go and make these investments, buy this stock or that stock, or have my husband or wife do it and then make money in the process.’”
The district attorney in June explained that the charges Pelosi is facing could involve punishment that “includes up to five years of probation, a minimum of five days in jail,” and other possible penalties.
It’s highly unlikely, depending on his plea, that the Speaker’s husband will face any of those measures.
