The UConn women’s basketball team held off a late rally by defending champ Stanford to advance to its first NCAA title game since 2016 with a 63-58 victory in the Women’s Final Four on Friday night.

The game did not disappoint.

“If you asked me how it happened I still don’t know. But somehow, someway this team just keeps finding a way to win,” said UConn coach Geno Auriemma in a postgame interview with ESPN’s Zubin Mehenti.

Equally as entertaining was ESPNU’s MegaCast, “The Bird & Taurasi Show” hosted by UConn women’s basketball greats Sue Bird and Diana Taurasi who were joined by other former Husky legends, WNBA All-Stars, NCAA women’s basketball coaches — and Bill Walton — with hilarious commentary about college diets, red Solo cups and UConn bias.

“I didn’t record it, and the chances of me watching it are less than zero,” Auriemma said, when told the MegaCast had created a social media stir. “When you’ve been around those two as long as I have, I really truly have no interest in hearing anything they have to say. On any topic, especially me. But I’m sure they were funny as hell, and I’m sure whatever I see they were drinking didn’t come from the store.”

Here is how social media reacted to all the pageantry around the UConn win.
