The Los Angeles Police Department is investigating after two people were shot early Monday morning near a taco truck, the sixth incident in a week and a half involving food truck vendors.
The shooting comes after multiple robberies have occurred at food trucks around the city, including near the Hacienda Village and Morningside Park neighborhoods.
The latest incident occurred shortly after midnight Monday southwest of downtown near Inglewood, close to Manchester Avenue and St. Andrews Place. Detectives are investigating the shooting and no information on suspects available, the Los Angeles Police Department said Monday.
Investigators have not determined what caused the shooting, authorities stated to USA TODAY.
South LA sees string of armed robberies at food truck vendors
The shooting comes after five robberies have occurred at food trucks in the south Los Angeles area in the past week, with three on May 28 and two on June 2.
On May 28, the first robbery occurred at 12:25 a.m. at Central Avenue and 101st Street. The suspects were described as two to three Hispanic males armed with dark and silver handguns who took money from the vendor in the truck.
The second robbery took place at 11 p.m. near Century Boulevard and San Pedro Street, while the third robbery occurred at 11:50 p.m. at 103rd Street and Avalon Boulevard. The suspects for both robberies were described as two Black males between 20-30 years of age driving a light-colored Lexus or Honda vehicle who also took money.
Authorities did not share suspect descriptions for the two robberies on June 2, which occurred at 12:10 a.m. at 103rd Street and Compton Avenue and at 12:15 a.m. at 92nd Street and Central Avenue.
